Halloween Fun!

I asked my daughter what she wanted to be for Halloween and for her first choice -a pumpkin. That is pretty impressive to me because it is her third Halloween and she is just over 2 years old. Last year she was a lady bug and the year before that she was the cutest little devil at only 3 months old. Wow how the time flies by! In spirit of the Halloween celebrations going on and for my daughter Sophia's matter of fact costume decision, I decided to make jack o' lantern crafts.
We cut out different shaped eyes, noses, and mouths with black construction paper first. I let her get some practice cutting with scissors on this one to help build her fine motor skills. Then I made several pumpkin outlines with orange construction paper. We talked about all the different colors and shapes while I let her put paste on them. Once the faces were glued on the pumpkin outlines I was able to talk to her about feelings like happy faces and scared or silly faces. Overall this was a productive and super easy project to put together.
After our project was done we hung up all our jack o lanterns on the wall and I could see how proud she was of our art work! I am proud that with five more days until Halloween we finally put up some decorations! Better late than never, right? How does your family connect during Halloween?
